I know, I know! Why has this blog post taken you so long Heather? That’s what you’re all thinking! Well truth be told, I wasn’t sure how I would manage to cram our adventure into a short and sweet post that wouldn’t send you to sleep by the end of it! So here it goes!
Our ‘business trip’ to London for The Stitch Festival started on the Wednesday afternoon once Rachel had by all accounts bravely taken on the London streets and parked us up in our hotel parking! First thing to note – I managed to blindly book us a brilliant hotel, in a great location just off Russell Square so we had easy access to the tube. This had us both quite smug and relieved we wouldn’t be marching all over trying to find our way in the old smoke!
Once we’d dropped off our bags and oohed and ahhed at our hotel amenities, we were off to Covent Garden as we had both excitedly decided we MUST visit the Moomin shop! Once our need was satisfied we headed towards what Rachel had excitedly exclaimed ‘I’m sure that’s Nelson’s Column over there’ and found ourselves in Trafalgar Square, followed by a surprise siting the minute we stepped up from the tube station to the stunning site of The Elizabeth Tower (Better known as Big Ben, which fun fact is the bell!)
After going to have a look at London, we finally we decided we were hungry and headed back towards Covent Garden. We ate at The Crusting Pipe in the Jubilee Market Hall and enjoyed our meal listening to the violinists playing in the courtyard.
We finished our night with a glass of wine in Friend at Hand and headed to bed for BIG adventure the following day!

Thursday morning begins with a quick trip to prêt-à-manger for breakfast and onto the tube to Angel Islington for The Stitch Festival! We arrived around 10.30am and shopped until 4pm with a lunch break at The Skinny Kitchen which was at the venue. If you’re interested in what we bought – you can watch our hauls here and here.
Once we’d dropped off our loot and had a power nap, we decided to go to Harrod’s! We treated ourselves to a slice of cake and glass of wine in the café in Harrods before splurging on The 175 Year Harrod’s bear which was packaged most obnoxious bag you’ve ever seen!

Friday started with a late Mother’s Day gift I had booked with Golden Tours for an afternoon tea and tour on the The English Tea Bus! We had the most fun, enjoying an afternoon tea of sandwiches, wraps, cakes and cream teas while enjoying a bus tour of London!
With full bellies we decided we’d walk to Buckingham Palace and St James’ park to see the Horse Guards. While on our travels happened upon band practice outside the Guard’s Chapel and stopped to enjoy that., followed by a fun Corgi Statue which of course we had to stop and take pictures with!

Onward to the mothership, Liberty London! We saved this until last as we knew we would want to soak in every detail of what would only have been a dream in another life! Greeted with the beautiful smell of the florist in the entrance to Liberty, we made our way to the haberdashery! We could have forever drooling over the beautiful fabrics and haberdashery items and took our time deciding on what we ‘needed’. A sweet mention would be the two lovely ladies we met while browsing! They were visiting from America and loading up their basket with Liberty pin cushions as gifts for their quilting friends back home! I recently received an email from Ellen, telling me how she thinks about our chance meeting often and show casing some of her beautiful handmade quilts!
We’ve included our purchases in our haul videos from The Stitch Festival if you’d like to see those too!
Finally, we headed home and enjoyed dinner and drinks in the hotel restaurant before heading home Saturday morning!
Until our next post!

It sounds like you fit a couple of weeks worth of experiences into a few days and had a great time doing it! Lord help on driving the streets of London. I did it once and hope to never repeat the experience LOL
Haha! I did get nervous with Rachel driving – she isn’t the most confident at the best of times but she did great! Yes we did cram a lot in a few days. We aren’t sure we will go again next year as we both needed a week to recover haha!
I am extremely impressed with your writing abilities and also with the structure on your blog.
Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep
up the excellent high quality writing, it’s uncommon to look a
great blog like this one these days.
